Loggerheads, Greens, and other varieties love this area and choose to nest on the Island’s white sand beaches. Visitors can walk the beaches recording nesting sites, collect information on turtle sizes, types etc., and tag them for research studies. Turtles’ nesting season starts as early as April but comes into swing during late May and June, extending through September when the eggs hatch and all the little baby turtles race to the water to hopefully have a long life.
