Caves Exploring

Caves Exploring

As a result of its geological characteristics, Socotra has more than 50 caves. The biggest] is Hoq cave, situated in granite massive above the Rosh eco-campsite and definitely worth seeing! Walking up to the cave entrance takes around one hour and will bring you into a magic world of stalagmites, stalactites, crystal curtains, and calcite floors. The cave is over 3 km long, with a small lake at the end. Another cave, Dagub, is located on the southern shore, behind the Hayf and Zahaq dunes. This cave can be easily reached by car. At the entrance, you will find the most valuable liquid of the southern part of the Island – pure water. Due to the presence of water, the cave is the habitat of many different animals, especially bats and swifts.
